Part of Don’t get mad at them. They’re just being white.

I wrote this first J.D. Vance post in July, 2021 after his “childless cat ladies” comments. Peter Thiel’s boy was just beginning his Senate run. (A well-funded example of systemic white privilege and money subverting democracy, if there ever was one.)

Back then, my post had a tongue-in-cheek quality to it, just like the other posts in the series. In terms of what prompts me to talk about my fellow whites in such ways, well, I’m a white dude living in the USA who came from a background with societal advantages that other Americans have not received. When I see fellow whites act oblivious to our privileged and nazified nonsense, I go smart-ass.

World: White America, like Fight Club, is something not talked about. White America sees systemic injustice as others’ problems when, in reality, we white people need to own this country’s disease. Deep down, we know.

Three years after I put up a post entitled Don’t get mad at J.D. Vance. He’s just being white., guess what happened?

The V.P.-candidate J.D. Vance addressed a viewer’s comment that he only cares about white stay-at-home moms. His reply: “I love my wife so much. I love her because she’s who she is. Obviously, she’s not a white person, and we’ve been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. But I just, I love Usha. She’s such a good mom.”

And then…wait for it…he got elected.

Now J.D. is our V.P. and just made an official trip to Greenland, bringing along the little non-white wifey that he loves so much. Their visit, intended to be three days long and instead lasting just three hours, went over like a fart in church.

Today, J.D. chimed in on a story about an innocent man who got taken off the street by ICE and sent to an El Salvador jail. J.D., being J.D., labeled the man as a gang member. Problem solved. No need to give this human’s life another second of consideration, that’s the way of the whites, amirite?

Ever since Donald Trump got re-elected and J.D. became the next person in line to hold the button that launches the nukes, I’ve seen a lot of white behavior from my fellow whites. Intentional obtuseness. Blank-eyed smirkiness. Cruelty. And more than anything else, a level of thoughtlessness that only reveals how hard a person is rubbing their brain cells together to shut down their critical thinking.

The whites who know that their Social Security and Medicare are going away are trying really hard. Really hard.

But it isn’t working.

My advice for the citizens of Earth when it comes to MAGA is: don’t get mad, they’re just being white. I’m not being glib, either (not 100%, anyway.) That said, I will expand on my thought and take it a step further: ignore the culture war mumbo-jumbo and target the finances of the wealthy backers looking for more tax cuts instead. Those efforts to ruin Phony Stark’s net worth or drive down companies’ stock prices…that’s where the gold is.

Take that gold and spend it on fighting climate change…you know…an issue based in reality and not a product of sad paranoia and outdated ideals.

April 5th will be the next big day of protest. Don’t obey in advance.
